Jung, the European leader in electrical mechanisms and automation of homes and buildings, presented the LS 990 series of electrical mechanisms in 1968. Today, five decades later, it continues to enjoy great popularity thanks to its timeless elegance. In addition, to celebrate, Jung launches this year a book entitled "The Classic Switch Since 1968" ("The classic switch since 1968"), which pays homage to this enduring product for both end users and for designers, architects, decorators and other construction professionals.

The LS 990 series was developed at the end of the 60s, when most switches on the market were levers. It was Albrecht Jung, founder of the company, who coined the guiding principle "Progress as a tradition", which made possible the impulse that gave rise to the technical advance that was the flat or key switch. The creative inspiration came from the ideas of the Bauhaus, which requires designs without embellishments, practical and based on clear and elementary forms, which is why the LS 990 is reduced to the absolutely essential: the basic geometry of the square.

The switches of the LS 990 series have a key of 70 x 70 millimeters, with a frame around only five millimeters. With this extremely minimalist form, its flat and easy to use surface, as well as its clear and concise design, the new product not only met the requirements of the interior design of the time, but also became an industrial standard for switches electric wall.

Minimalist and austere, organic and ludic, the discreet design of the LS 990 series adapts harmoniously to any architectural or decorative concept. Jung also offers numerous variations of colors and materials, as well as more than 200 functionalities, from multimedia connections plugs, or intercommunication systems.

Apart from the large number of colors available in plastic and metal, the LS 990 series also features the 63 colors of the Les Couleurs® collection by Le Corbusier, one of the most influential architects of the 20th century. In his opinion, the success in the design of a building lies both in a correct distribution of the plant, and in the right combination of colors. Jung is the only switch manufacturer in the world that offers Le Corbusier tones in a complete series of electrical mechanisms.

ZERO, the development of a classic

The LS ZERO series from Jung is an update of the classic LS 990, since it adopts the design of the iconic flat switch and that of its narrow frame, but differs in that the mechanisms of the LS ZERO series can be assembled completely flush with the surface of the support, be it a work wall, drywall or even the wood of a piece of furniture.

The result is a smooth and perfect transition of the switch, plug or mechanism in question. The LS ZERO series also offers a catalog of mechanisms with more than 200 different functionalities, from conventional applications to the most specialized of the smart home, without the need to use special tools or assembly equipment for its installation.

This year 2018, Jung will present an elegant version of the LS ZERO series in brass.
